Can advocates lord over police officials inside police station or a public place

Bedlam in Bowbazar Police Station. Lady advocate alleges assault by opposite parties and also the second officer of the police station.

19.06.2026: Bedlam in Bowbazar Police Station in Kolkata.

A lady advocate alleges assault by opposite parties and also the second officer of the police station.

There is an alarming prevalence of assault and battery cases at police stations and court premises across the country, often involving individuals from antisocial backgrounds, whether they be complainants or accused.

While the law provides various preventive and punitive measures to address such rogue behavior, rarely any action is taken against the aggressive parties.

We must also scrutinize the conduct of legal professionals in such cases.

The conduct of this particular lady advocate raises serious concerns, as her approach appears to blur the lines between legal advocacy and activism.

As a seasoned legal professional, I have navigated my career without ever stepping foot in a police station, aware of the inherent risks and the potential to compromise one's dignity and reputation at the hands of the parties, and also policemen inside the police stations.

The precedent being set by this lady advocate is troubling, prompting me to contemplate initiating an independent inquiry into the matter.

It is essential that we uphold the integrity of our legal system and ensure that advocates remain firmly within their essential role, serving justice rather than becoming embroiled in sensationalism.
